My crabapple tree is doing the same thing now in early September. I thought the tree looked as though it might be dying and now there are blooms. Don’t know why. Also, about three weeks ago, my tulip magnolia has blooms again, although not as abundant as in the spring. Does anyone know what would cause this phenomenon.

Beautiful! I started a container garden on my back deck which abuts a parking lot. I’m worried the plants will choke. I keep them as clean as I can and so far so good. It’s no on-ramp, that’s for sure, and it seems to be not that busy so I’m hoping I can make a go of it. That on-ramp garden is gorgeous and makes me feel better for trying to garden in my weird little space. Thank you very much for posting the photos.

I just acquired a Hocking press bought by my great granddad in the 1880s. Your post will be extremely useful this fall when I put it to use! (Mine has the modern twist of an electric motor)

I just linked to your blog in my postings about planning my sidewalk strip “verge” garden here in Philly. Great great stuff. Then as I began my spring shopping and wanted to know more about Euphorbia I came to this entry and WOW. Fireglow so trumps the euphorbia myrsinites that I was thinking of buying.
